The Viking democratic government was needed because it gave the people a sense of direction. Their government led them to come together as one to figure things out, without any bloodshed. Their Government was needed to keep them in line so they did not do anything reckless which could later on hurt them and their people since they had no rule to follow and did as they pleased.
The Viking government was made through their local assembly where the local free men would gather. The local gatherings then evolved into formal gatherings where the free men would meet up and vote on disagreements. The local communities valued their independence and decision making leaving the foundation for their government to be formed.

The Vikings left the impact of early rule of law which uses a court jury system just as we do now. The Vikings also impacted local government with town or local meeting and community voting. They left the idea of a citizens direct say or as they called it free men who would vote and decide things as a group and over all say to the jury or chieftain.
The Viking government at that time created a sense of order and stability giving their people peaceful and a better way to solve their problems. The government also limited the power of the kings and chiefs who would have blindly go into war or give up alliances which with the vote of the free men helped them decide whether it was a good thing to do or if they did not think they were in the position to do so.

The creation of the Viking government was historically important because it was one of the first democratic systems where ordinary free people could come together to make laws and vote. This also gave their people a voice in leadership decisions creating a shared power of accountability because it would have been a group effort to decide what was going to happen. The government also replaced violence with law and rules. lastly it influenced future government shaping the way they are now.
