The Meso-Americans are responsible for many crucial innovations and inventions that are still relevant to this day. Meso-America is located in the middle of the Americas. It was a historical and cultural location that included parts of Mexico and Central America. Ancient Meso-America was inhabited by civilizations such as the Mayans, the Aztecs, and the Olmecs. The Mayans are known for their advanced astronomy and mathematics. Their civilizations were made up of independent city-states. The Aztecs, however, created the largest state and urbanized area in pre-historic Meso-America. They dominated their region by conquering other city-states. The Olmecs are well-known for their monumental art their creation of rubber. Meso-America was populated by small village societies that interacted with the Olmecs and each other. Areas neighboring the Olmecs were so influenced by them that they had their iconography and artifacts. A lot of the facts we know about Meso-America were only recently discovered because archaeologists ignored the areas of Ancient Meso-America because the indigenous sites were hard to locate and typically small. Cross culture interactions drastically changed Meso-America. These interactions were discussed in the literature at the time.
