The arts program at Brush High School is centered around Animation. Students in the program will develop the skills of a concept artist, Animator, 3D modeler, and cinematographer.
Concept Artists are skilled at realistic and stylized drawing and painting in both traditional media and digital tools (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator), creative thinking, visual storytelling, and the creative process.
Animators are skilled at making drawings and models come to life using the 12 principles of animation.
3D Modelers are skilled at creating clay and digital sculptures and environments (Autodesk Maya).
Cinematographers are skilled at telling stories with audio/visual technology.
The Media Arts curriculum will be project based and use a Competency Based Education model. The program will prepare students for pursuing careers in the movie and video game industry. However these skills are also relevant to students interested in architecture, engineering, industrial design, forensic science, anthropology, scientific research, medicine, and educational technology. Students in the program will prepare for post secondary education by developing portfolios consisting of drawings, paintings, sculptures, animations, and videos.
Students in the program will be invited to participate in the Brush Animators Guild. In this club students will make animated films, help design and build sets for plays, paint murals, and participate in enrichment activities like going to museums, conventions, and visiting professional studios.
