Parental Leave Bank

What started out as a committee to address the issue of unpaid parental leave turned into the development of a parental leave bank! This is an incredible way for BSD Staff to support new parents!

Any member of the Teachers/Instructional Personnel/Nurses agreement may donate a day to the bank. If you donated a day and welcome a new family member in the same school year, you may be eligible to withdraw days from the Parental Leave Bank and extend your paid leave! In its first year, we received 178 donations which will alow us to provide parental leave for up to 9 new parents! Thank YOU! Over 80 days were used in the first year - that is a total of SIXTEEN WEEKS of paid leave for new parents that would not have been available without the bank!
