Ms. Findlay is a 26-year veteran art teacher with experience in elementary, middle and high school art classes which also service students with special needs. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the State University College at Buffalo. While there, she had the opportunity to live and study in Siena Italy for a semester, learning firsthand about Italian art, history and culture. Ms. Findlay has a Masters of Arts in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh. She is a NYSATA (New York State Art Teachers Association) member and has been part of the planning committee for the OVA (Olympics of the Visual Arts) for many years. Ms. Findlay enrolled in ceramics classes for over 10 years with Regis Brodie at Skidmore College. She became part of the Saratoga Clay Arts group showing work in galleries and shows. She also taught ceramics classes at Emma Willards Girls Summer Program in Troy NY. Ms. Findlay is presently A Program Support Leader for Art at Tamarac, communicating with her department on National, State and local publications and events. She is a Specials Team Leader helping to organize enrichment programs promoting Character Ed and or Art in Ed initiatives for the middle school students. She has completed several sessions of curriculum writing updating her courses to align to the present NYS Visual Arts Standards. Ms. Findlay has taught skiing at Willard Mountain. She has been a long time ski advisor for the middle school Tamarac Ski & Board Club.
Ms. Findlay is committed to sharing her love for art with her students. She values the individual differences that each child has and truly appreciates the challenge of engaging students in art making, learning and understanding.
Ms. Findlay has two children. Her daughter owns a flower farm in Asheville North Carolina. Her son is a ski instructor at Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe California. Ms. Findlay is an outdoors enthusiast. She loves skiing, hiking, birdwatching, fishing, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
