Orchestra at Ralston 

Students who play string instruments can sign up for orchestra at Ralston! 

In 6th Grade Orchestra, students will learn more about instrument technique, exploring music from around the world and beginning to play together as an ensemble. Throughout the year, students will engage in an Orchestra Karate curriculum to earn belts for performance of various pieces and scales. Students will learn beginning aspects of composing their own music on acoustic and electronic instruments. In order to sign up for 6th Grade Orchestra, previous experience on the instrument is highly recommended! 

In Advanced Orchestra, 7th & 8th grade students will improve their technique skills as they learn ensemble pieces and further explore music composition, while collaborating with other music and elective classes. Completion of 6th Grade Orchestra is required for entrance to this intermediate ensemble. 

In Chamber Orchestra, 7th & 8th grade students will continue their technique and ensemble participation with more challenging repertoire, requiring commitment and dedication from the students. Completion of 6th Grade Orchestra AND a placement assessment (audition) is required for entrance into this advanced ensemble.
