Any student can sign up for choir at Ralston regardless of prior experience!
In 6th Grade Chorus, students will learn to sing and read music from all around the world. Students will explore ensemble music through singing, movement, and world percussion to build a sense of community during their 6th grade year. No audition is necessary for entrance into this ensemble!
In Concert Chorale, choir students in grades 7/8 have an opportunity to experience singing harmony in multiple part music. Vocal techniques are developed with a repertoire of music from around the world with an introduction to music technology, music theory, music cultural context, and songwriting/composition. No audition or prerequisite is required to join this ensemble.
In Chamber Choir, 7th & 8th grade choir students will explore vocal technique, ear training, and music theory with more advanced repertoire with 3-4 part harmony. An emphasis is provided on the cultural/historical context of the repertoire in order to create our own music using voices, instruments, and music technology. Students in this ensemble will participate in collaborations with other elective programs throughout the school year and various performances throughout the year. Prerequsite: Completion of 1 year of choir + placement assessment.
