Students who play woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments can sign up for band at Ralston!
In 6th Grade Band, students will learn more about instrument technique, exploring music from various genres and beginning to play together as an ensemble. Throughout the year, students will learn beginning aspects of music theory. In order to sign up for 6th Grade Band, previous experience on the instrument is required!
In Symphonic Band, 7th & 8th grade students will improve their technique skills as they learn ensemble pieces and further explore band music of different styles. Completion of 6th Grade Band (or placement assessment with Mr. Thielen) is required for entrance into this intermediate ensemble.
In Honors Band, 7th & 8th grade students will continue their technique and ensemble participation with more challenging repertoire, requiring commitment and dedication from the students. Completion of 6th Grade Band AND an audition is required for entrance into this advanced ensemble.
