Students may be placed on a furlough, or break, from services due to lack of academic progress, excessive absences, teacher request, parent request, or even student request. The campus G/T committee meets and parents are notified. Furloughs are temporary and typically occur over the course of one grading period. At the end of a furlough the following decisions can be made: return to services, continue furlough, or exit program.
Prior to exits from the program, attempts must be made to support the needs of the student. Strategies to assist the student should be implemented. Parents must be notified prior to any exit. Campus G/T committees, with input from parents and students, will determine final exit decisions.
Evaluating a variety of skills based on the typical needs of gifted and talented students.
