Section Four

Individual Planning

Coggin Counselors will work with Mental Health Specialist and Social Work Intern with Howard Payne University to provide Tier 2 small group intervention to assist students in being successful with restorative direction.

Guidance

Data driven guidance lessons will be provided at a minimum of 35% of the school week hours, addressing intrapersonal effectiveness, interpersonal effectiveness, post-secondary planning and career readiness, and personal health and safety. These will be scheduled during specials for PK-5th and during Social Studies class for 6th.

Responsive Services

Responsive Services will be provided at a rate of 30% of the service plan as according to the Texas State Comprehensive Model.

System Support

Coggin Elementary Counselors will work closely with the Autism Grant Team to further support students with Autism.

Activity - Check in/ Check out

Students on the Check in/Check out system have been identified as our Tier II and Tier III students.  Below is an example of students, and their progress tracked through data.  For example, see student BI 5 listed below. He has gone from a goal of 60% compliance as his individual goal for a reward every 2 days to 75% compliance for his individual goal with a reward every 3 days, resulting in an overall growth of 70 minutes of being on target and on task, per day in the spring.

Community Partner Collaboration

Coggin works closely with Community Connections of Central Texas (CCCT), which is conveniently located next door.  A district Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was created, and representatives from CCCT come to provide Managing Your Anger for Children (10 sessions) for students.  Sessions are provided with services in school but with respect to working around core class times.  The district pays for the material, and the counselors, CCCT representative(s), and parents work together to ensure skill-building for students struggling with knowing how to effectively manage their anger.  In addition, we have an MOU with Center for Life Resources (CFLR) and 2INgage, which allows students to receive local mental health services within non-core class time.
