Adobe Premiere Rush is one of the top editing and recording app on the market today and it’s free to Brown University students. The caveat is that it can easily overheat when exporting and it is not available on older devices. This is recommended to both beginners and advanced users. 

Camera MX

The free version of this app includes most video recording features in an easy to navigate interface. This is recommended for beginners or those who want a quick shoot. 


Best Paid recording apps

Filmic Pro

Filmic pro allows you to adjust all the video settings on your phone’s camera such as resolution, white balance, ISO, shutter speed, and even lens focus. This is constantly referred to as the best smartphone recording app. ~$14.99

ProMovie

ProMovie has a ton of camera options without being too specific or complex for just $2.99. This is a great option for those who want more features and a higher quality app but don't want to dish out a lot of money for an app.
