Graduate Council

The Graduate Council consists of administrators, faculty members, and graduate students, and sets policy for the Graduate School subject to the approval of the faculty and the Board of Fellows. Such policy includes the conditions for admission and the procedures for the award of graduate fellowships and scholarships, the supervision of degree requirements, the approval process for new courses and other modifications of existing degree programs, and approval and recommendations to the faculty regarding new degree programs.

Graduate Library Advisory Committee

Description:
The purpose of the Graduate Library Advisory Committee (GLAC) is to provide feedback to the Brown University Library regarding the Library’s efforts to meet the scholarly, pedagogical, and teaching needs of graduate students at Brown. Committee members should serve as a liaison between their fellow students and the Committee, soliciting and communicating feedback from students concerning Library collections, services, policies, and facilities. In addition, the Committee will devise and recommend avenues to improve the Library’s support of graduate student activities with respect to publishing, research and scholarly ethics; digital scholarship and data management; sharing and preservation; and professional development. The committee may engage in special projects such as leading, developing and coordinating surveys and focus groups to help analyze and target graduate student needs in the Library.
