Description:
The GSC Chair of Education leads this committee in addressing academic issues facing the graduate student community. This committee seeks membership from students across diverse academic disciplines to advocate to the Graduate School, School of Professional Studies, and individual departments in educational concerns.

Social Events Committee
Social Events Committee
Description:
The Social Events Committee helps the GSC Co-Chairs of Social Events organize the large events hosted by GSC. Typically this includes the orientation social, Halloween event, and winter ball during the Fall semester and the welcome back social, spring fling, and graduation champagne toast during the Spring semester.

Description:
The Student Life Committee helps the GSC Chair of Student Life in their work with the various centers at Brown and wider community events that are smaller in scale than the Social Team. Members will help in initiatives to improve quality of graduate student life through various workshops and managing initiatives such as the GSC food pantry.

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee
Description:
The DEI Committee will work alongside the GSC Chair of DEI to have open discourse and advocate in areas affecting personal identity, issues of equity, and fostering a culture of belonging on campus in support of all graduate students.
Committee members will be invited to meetings with OIED to create an avenue for bi-directional feedback with the administration.

Description:
The Finance Committee helps the GSC Treasurer to make decisions on the GSC Funding lines for recognized groups and internal events. This is done by voting online between members of the committee.

Description:
The International Committee works alongside the GSC Chair of International Advocacy to promote community among the international student population at Brown as well as advance international-specific advocacy points to university officials.

Nominations Committee
Description:
The GSC Chair of Nominations helps the Graduate School fill internal positions on various University committees. Additionally, the committee assists the Chair in selecting winners for awards given by the Graduate School to faculty and Staff, choosing the Masters’ and Doctoral Commencement speakers, and vote on the recognition of new graduate student groups.

Description:
The Master’s Committee works alongside the GSC Chair of Masters’ Advocacy to promote community among the masters student population at Brown as well as advance masters-specific advocacy points to university officials.

Technology Committee
Technology Committee
Description:
Members of the technology committee will assist the GSC Chair of Technology in managing various listservs, updating the GSC website, setting up technology (projector, speaker, Zoom, etc.) at GSC sponsored events, and helping executive board members with emails and social media.
