A small group of our dedicated climate change activists joined the Young Christians' Climate Network relay to COP26 when it passed through our village on 23 & 24 July 2021.
The relay arrived at St. Mary's Church, Broughton after school on the last day of term where our team were ready to interview them about their motives for taking part in this long walk from the G7 summit in Cornwall to the COP26 Climate Conference in Glasgow.
Following a night of tremendous thunder and lightning, we set off from St. Mary's, joining the walkers for a section of their route for the day. The children were privileged in taking turns in carrying the banner along the path. We were very lucky that it remained dry for the duration of our 4km hike down the Clarendon Way to the Sheep Bridge at Houghton where we bade our farewells to the group who were continuing on to Winchester.
Well done to our team for using their feet to speak out for action against climate change, representing our school and living article 12 of the CRC: children should have a say in all matters concerning them and article 13: children should be able to express their thoughts and opinions.
