The High School Application Process

It is important to understand how this process works so that you can make the most informed decisions when you complete your application. Please make an appointment with Ms. Wilson or Ms. Solomon to learn more about your specific application.

In each of these Part 1 events (video on the left), we walked through how to create your MySchools account, use MySchools to explore high school options, and register for the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test (SHSAT).

At each of these Part 2 events, we’ll cover when and how to apply, how offers are made, how to build a balanced application, and how to participate in the audition process for arts programs, including LaGuardia High School.

High School Suggestions: It is highly recommended that you take the following next steps:
Current 8th Grade Students:
Attend a BSEA High School Workshop
Participate in Town Hall High School workshops
Visit high schools you are interested in attending at one of their virtual or in person open houses
Schedule a 1:1 High School Application Planning Session with Ms. Wilson, Ms. Solomon, or Ms. Mapp in the fall of your 8th grade year
Get your application in early!
Current 7th Grade Students:
Begin looking at high schools in the directory and begin thinking about what programs you may be interested in
Visit high schools you are interested in attending at one of their virtual or in person open houses
Attend a BSEA High School Workshop
Maintain your grades and attendance (including lateness) throughout your 7th grade year
