Workbooks, Worksheets & Flashcards

  • Triangular Math Fact Cards - Triangle shaped flash cards of a "fact family" allow for the practice of both addition and subtraction. You can print them out at home, or buy a commercial set, such as Trend Three Corner Flash Cards.
  • Another variation on flash cards is the game Super Genius - Addition. Similar in concept to the game Spot It!, this game involves finding matching addition equations and sums on 2 different cards.
  • Word Problems about addition and subtraction - Check out this "word problem generator" at the Greg Tang Math website. You can create and solve many different types and ranges of addition and subtraction problems, either on the computer or printed out on paper.
  • Ken Ken Puzzles - Some versions of these logic puzzles include addition and subtraction thinking. Though they aren't geared toward rote memorization, they can be a welcome and challenging way to practice and apply these facts.
  • Drill Sheets - Some students enjoy the challenge of racing to complete a sheet of facts, while others find this stressful. Proceed with caution!
