Weekly Math Challenges
Weekly Math Challenges!
Welcome to our Lower School Weekly Math Challenges! You can click on the pictures of the challenges in the list below to open a Google Doc and print the Math Challenges at home. Paper copies of the Challenges are also available for students to pick up on the 6th and 7th floors. Then submit them back to us in the Math Challenges envelope outside of the 6th Floor Math Cave (Jonathan and Kate's office). We can't wait to see how you solve these problems!
There are three levels to these challenges, progressing in difficulty. In general, Math Challenge 1* is aimed at Kindergarten and 1st grade; Math Challenge 2 ** is aimed at 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade; and Math Challenge 3 *** is aimed at 3rd and 4th grade. However, anyone is welcome to try whichever challenges they want.
Yours mathematically,
Jonathan and Kate
Math Challenge FAQs
We missed doing a Challenge this week. Can we still do it later? Yes! The challenges are open all year long.
Can adults help out? Well, don’t give away the answer, but – yes! Adults can help read, think about, wonder, show interest in, and reflect on the problem with their children. One of our goals for these challenges is to give families an opportunity to engage in a broad range of mathematics together.
We didn't get to the challenge during the school week. Can we do it over the weekend? Yes! Submit the Math Challenge on Monday morning, and it will be counted for the previous week.
