Our next election will be held on May 21, 2025 for all positions on the 2025-2026 Executive Board and 1 position on the School Leadership Team. It's never too early to start thinking about nominating yourself or someone else to be a part of the BHSA Parent Association Executive Board! Please read below to find out more about each position.

Vision
The BHSA Parent Association develops and cultivates a strong partnership between the BHSA parent community and school administration. The BHSA Parent Association engages and empowers parents to advocate for students by being active participants in the school community.
Term of Office and Term Limits (Excerpt)
The term of office shall be from July 1st through June 30th.
Term limits for each officer position of the association shall be two consecutive one year terms.
Eligibility for the office is limited to parents, legally appointed guardians or persons in parental relation who are not employed at BHSA.
Co-officers must run together as a slate in order to serve together.

PRESIDENT OR
CO-PRESIDENTS
The president shall preside at all meetings of the association and shall be an ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating committee.
The president shall encourage meaningful participation in all parent and school activities.
The president shall meet regularly with the Executive Board to plan the agendas for the general membership meetings.
VICE PRESIDENT OR
CO-VICE PRESIDENTS
The vice president shall assist the president and shall assume the president’s duties in his/her or their absence or at the president’s request.
The vice president shall assist with the June transfer of PA records to the incoming Executive Board.
TREASURER OR
CO-TREASURERS
The treasurer and/or co-treasurers shall be responsible for all financial affairs and funds of the association.
The treasurer and/or co-treasurers shall also be responsible for maintaining an updated record of all income and expenditures on school premises and shall be one of the signatories on checks.
The treasurer and/or co-treasurer shall adhere to and implement all financial procedures established by the association.
The treasurer and/or co-treasurers shall prepare and present a written report of all transactions at every Executive Board and general membership meeting.
The treasurer and/or co-treasurers shall also prepare the association’s interim and annual financial reports.
CORRESPONDING SECRETARY
The corresponding secretary will handle all incoming correspondence including e-mail of the association.
He/ she will send notices to members when required, and assist as recording secretary as needed.
When the recording secretary is absent, the corresponding secretary will take meeting minutes. The corresponding secretary assumes the responsibilities of the recording secretary.
RECORDING SECRETARY
The recording secretary shall record minutes at all association meetings.
The recording secretary’s responsibilities shall include the preparation of notices, agendas, sign-in sheets and materials for distribution.
The recording secretary shall prepare and read the minutes of each association meeting and shall distribute copies of the minutes at the next scheduled meeting for review and approval by the general membership.
The recording secretary shall maintain custody of the association’s records on school premises.
SCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM (SLT)
2 POSITIONS
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of people who develop educational policies for their school. They also make sure there are resources to support those policies.
SLTs
Provide ongoing evaluations of a school’s educational programs and their impact on student achievement.
Play an important role in school-based decision-making
Help to make school cultures more collaborative.
The SLT Role
An SLT is responsible for developing a school’s Comprehensive Educational Plan (CEP).
An SLT makes a yearly evaluation of the principal’s record of developing an effective, shared decision-making relationship with the SLT members during the year. This evaluation is given to the community district or high school superintendent.
The SLT is not responsible for the hiring or firing of school staff. However, according to Chancellor’s Regulation C-30, the SLT must be consulted prior to the appointment of a principal or assistant principal.
