How to Apply for an Advertised Studentship
To apply for an advertised Studentship, please ensure you submit a completed application form, including all the necessary documentation listed below, by 17:00 GMT on the deadline date specified. Late or incomplete applications cannot be considered.
Please also email Dominic Maitland (dmaitland@brookes.ac.uk) to confirm your application has been received.
Completing the Application Form

When completing your application form, please ensure you select the correct course, namely:
-Academic Level: 'Research Degrees'
-Subject Group: 'All Research'
-Course: MPhil/ PhD in:
Architecture: Architecture
Arts: Film, or Fine Art, or Music, or Publishing
Built Environment: Urban Design, or Planning, or Real Estate
Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences: Engineering, or Mathematics, or Computing
Documents Required
As part of your application, please attach the following documents:
1. Cover letter (2 pages max) summarising:
Your reasons for wanting to undertake this project;
A brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position)
The cover letter should also demonstrate how you meet the essential selection criteria identified in the advert
2. Research proposal: A research proposal within 2,000 words that includes clear research aims/questions, an description of methodology, and a rough timeline.
3. Details of two referees: Please provide the contact details of two referees. If you are awarded the studentship, you will need to provide two written references (one of which must be academic) from your referees.
4. A scan of your passport
5. Copies of your official previous Degree Certificate(s)
6. Copies of your official previous Transcript(s)
7. IELTS certificate or equivalent evidence of English Language abilities (if applicable): For more details please consult the Oxford Brookes English language requirements pages: Entry English language requirements
8. Your CV
Please note that only five documents can be uploaded to the portal. Please either merge extra documents or email them to our Research Administrator.
If short-listed for interview, you will be contacted by email to arrange a suitable interview date and time. The successful candidate will be notified after the final application deadline. If you are not successful in your application, you will be notified of this within approximately six weeks of the closing date. Due to the high volume of applications we may not be able to provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates.
