In this session, Anna Verghese explored how the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme works, the benefits to both the business partner and the university, and the application process. The KTP programme has grown from £30 million last year to £45 million this year, and is expected to both continue growing as well as expand on the current eligibility criteria!

Description: The Library has been signing 'read & publish' agreements with big publishers like Sage, Wiley, and Springer in the last few years that mean academics can 'read' the journals of those publishers and 'publish' their articles as Gold Open Access for no additional cost. Innovate UK's Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme promotes business led, open innovation by connecting companies with academic expertise to enable them to grow their business. This workshop will tell you more about how the KTP programme works, what the benefits are to both the business partner and the university, and how you can get involved as academics. It will be led by Anna Verghese, KTP Manager at Brookes, and our Knowledge Transfer Adviser, Dr Matt Hogan.

Matt is the Knowledge Transfer Advisor for Oxfordshire, Berkshire and West London. Prior to joining the KTN in 2019 Matt spent several decades working in the FMCG industry primarily in the R&D function. He has experience in product development, process development, quality, food safety, marketing, sales, Open Innovation and longer term scientific research in collaboration with academia. He has extensive experience of introducing new technology in manufacturing settings globally. He is a Chartered Chemical Engineer and has a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from University College London.
