Submitting assignments to a Moodle drop box

Please note: submission points can be set up in different ways, depending on requirements. The guidance below describes the upload procedure. Further information can be found under Note on differentsettings at the bottom of this page.

1. Click on the title of the assignment submission

Alternatively, you can upload the submission file using the file picker, which opens when you click on the icon in the top left:

The 'File picker' allows you to choose a file by browsing for it on your computer, then click on Upload this file:

Option: When you see the file name in the 'Attachment' box, you can check that you have attached the correct file by clicking on it. This opens the file in its application (for example MS Word). If the file is correct, you can click on 'Save changes'.

You can now see your submitted file on the upload page.  You can click on the link to the file to check that it opens correctly and that you have uploaded the correct file/version.)

4. If you see a 'Send for marking' button, you will have to click on it to make sure it can be graded. Until you have clicked this button you can still edit your submission at any time. (Note: if you don't see this button, your submission can be accessed by the tutor at any time.)

Note on different settings

The submission can be set up in different ways. For example, the submission point might have been set up in a way that doesn't allow changes or deletion of files. You will see a button 'Edit these files' to do this. It is always best to check you have the correct files during the upload process. The submission point might also allow you to add some notes for your tutor in a text box.  The tutorial above only describes the most common settings.
