Scroll down this page for some helpful cooking tips from our community partners, along with ideas on commonly wasted foods. Remember that the competition criteria state the genuine use of leftover foods and/or commonly wasted foods.  

Below you can also find some basic examples of photo series and video submissions. You can choose to add any illustrations, voice-overs, individual appearances or music that you wish (as long as it adheres to Instagram guidelines!).  We recommend making it very clear how your recipe is using leftover food and/or using commonly wasted foods.

Basic Photo Series Entry Example: Cranberry Bread and Butter Pudding

Caption Ingredients and Preparation Example:

INGREDIENTS:


- 6 slices of bread

- 3 cups soy milk

- 1 cup sugar

- 1/2 cup maple syrup

- 1/4 applesauce

- 1 tsp vanilla extract

- 1/2 cup dried cranberries


PROCESS:


In a baking tray:

- Defrost bread in the oven (if frozen)

- Cut into cubes.


In a separate bowl:

- Pour 3 cups soy milk

- Add 1 cup sugar

- Add 1/2 cup of maple syrup

- Add 1/4 cup apple sauce

- Add 1 tsp vanilla extract

- Add 1/2 cup cranberries

- Stir thoroughly until combined


In the baking tray:

- Pour the mixture over the bread cubes

- Preheat oven to 180°C

- Bake for 35 minutes
