Your Induction Programme

Course welcome and introduction

Led by Academic staff from your chosen subject, this session will give you an overview of the course and will introduce you to your fellow students, your academic programme team and Student Support Coordinator. You will also meet Student Ambassadors who are already studying at Brookes and they will end the session by taking you on a tour of the campus.

Course taster session 

This is a 50 minute interactive session introducing you to your subject of study in more detail. You will have the opportunity to meet your tutors and spend more time with your fellow students during this session. Every subject is unique so if you are a joint honours student please make sure you attend both sessions. 

School Welcome

Your course sits within either the School of Law and Social Sciences, or the School of Education, Humanities and Languages. In this session you will meet staff from across the school and students from other courses.

Faculty welcome event

An opportunity for you to meet fellow students from across the Schools of Law and Social Sciences, & Education, Humanities and Languages.

• Harcourt Hill Faculty Social

Thursday 19th September, 15:00 - 16:30, Westminster Square, Harcourt Hill Campus

For students studying Education courses based at Harcourt Hill.

• Foundation Student’s Social

Thursday 19th September, 16:00 - 17:50, JHB 408, John Henry Brookes Building, Headington Campus

For all students studying Foundation Humanities or Foundation Law

• Headington Faculty Social 

Friday 20th September, 14:30 - 16:00, Sir Kenneth Weare Hall, Clerici, Headington Campus

For all students studying courses based at Headington.

Module Registration

Unless your modules are all compulsory (you will be told about this in the first session) you will need to choose and register modules for semester two. These sessions are available to help you do this, please use them. Our Student Support Coordinators will also have drop in times available if you need any support during your induction.

Joint honours students

• If you are a joint honours student you will have two induction schedules, one for each subject. 

• You must attend the course welcome and introduction, and taster session for both of your subjects. 

• You do not need to go on both campus tours, unless your subjects are based at both Harcourt Hill and Headington.

• If your schedules list two different School welcome sessions you only need to attend one. 

• If your subjects are based at both campuses you only need to attend one social event, although you are welcome to attend both.
