Learning resource developed by an Oxford Brookes University student teacher focusing on Long Mead Farm
About Long Mead Meadow
Long Mead Meadow is a site recently opened up for educational purposes. It offers the rich diversity of an ancient meadow alongside an orchard boasting many varieties of traditional apples and pears, locally and from around the world. The site is home for and has frequent visits from local wildlife, including otters and badgers. It also offers a wealth of opportunities for hedgerow investigations and pond dipping .
A badger got into the [teaching] tent overnight... and turned everything upside down and strew all the teaching materials all over the meadow, which we discovered only shortly before the school was due to arrive for a hedge survey… Your students were fantastic.
