What is a unit?

The UK Chief Medical Officers' (CMO) guidance says that we should not regularly drink more than 14 units of alcohol each week.

But what is a unit?

A unit of alcohol is  10ml or 8g of alcohol. This is the amount of alcohol that the average adult can process in one hour.

But what does that mean in drinks?

That's a bit less than 6 175ml glasses of wine, or 6 pints of regular strength beer.
