John T. Belcher Missouri School Boards’ Association Student Scholarship
Each year the Missouri School Boards’ Association’s Foundation (FutureBuilders) awards $18,500 in scholarships to students in MSBA’s member districts. A winner is selected from each of the 17 MSBA Regions and one overall State Winner is selected. Each regional winner receives a $1000 scholarship and is automatically eligible to compete for the statewide winner who receives an additional $1500. The scholarship is non-renewable.

The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-year scholarships to the highest-rated applicants in the 2024 competition.

Ranging from $1,000 per year to $7,500 per year, Most Valuable Student scholarships are for students pursuing a four-year degree, on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester hours), in a U.S. college or university. All scholarships are in the form of certificates of award conditional upon the full-time enrollment of the winner in an accredited U.S. college or university.
The Chicago office of the Elks National Foundation announced the 500 national winners in April, 2023. The USDA 1890 National Scholars Program is aimed at bolstering educational and career opportunities for students from rural or underserved communities around the country. It was established in 1992 as part of the partnership between USDA and the 1890 land-grant universities.
USDA’s Office of Partnerships and Public Engagement (OPPE) manages the 1890 National Scholars Program, which is aimed at increasing the number of students from rural and underserved communities who study food, agriculture, natural resource and other related sciences. The scholarship provides recipients with full tuition, fees, books, room and board. Scholars attend one of the 1890 land-grant universities and pursue degrees in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines. The scholarship may also include work experience at USDA. The program is a crucial part of USDA’s Next Generation efforts.

Eligibility Requirements
1. Must be a U.S. Citizen or have a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card).
2. Must attend a high school located in the United States. Can be a public, private, charter, magnet, or STEM school.
3. Must be in the high school graduating class.
4. Must have achieved a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average.
5. Must enroll in an eligible four-year not-for-profit College or University the first semester following high school graduation.
6. Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college, or complete the equivalent of a four year degree if in a professional program.
7. Recipients must work 240 hours from January 1, 2024 until commencement of the 2024 fall semester in college. Work can be performed at recipient discretion. Employment must be regularly scheduled work performed under supervision for compensation. Work can be full-time during the summer and/or part-time work.
8. Applicant’s Adjusted Gross Household Income reported for 2022 Federal Income Tax Purposes must not have exceeded $100,000. “Household Income” is defined as the total income received by all members of a household living under the same roof.
9. Applicants selected as Finalists must provide a copy of their FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS).
10. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible.

Selection criteria: A student properly enrolled at Missouri State University seeking a degree in the William H. Darr College of Agriculture. Students must have graduated from a high school located in Vernon or Barton County in Missouri. Incoming freshman must have maintained a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher, and current students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. Preference should be given to those students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business. Preference should be given to students that have been active in high school FFA or 4H programs. Top preference should be given to graduates of Bronaugh High School.

Selection criteria: The recipients of this award will be undergraduate students properly enrolled fulltime at Missouri State University with a declared major in Agriculture. Recipients must be graduates of schools in Barton and Vernon Counties in Missouri.
Renewal criteria: This scholarship is renewed automatically.

Producers Cooperative Association scholarships are offered to high school seniors from the communities surrounding the Girard, KS area. The amount of the scholarship is $250 per year. The scholarship is renewable for 3 additional years upon annual proof of enrollment and maintaining a 3.0 grade point average. The total value of this scholarship is $1,000.00 High school seniors can apply for the scholarship by obtaining an application from their high school counselor during the month of March. The completed application must be returned to the counselor’s office by April 1, 2023. The scholarship winner is selected by a local committee. In making its selection, the committee considers:
• •The applicant’s interest in furthering his/her education by engaging in studies relating to agriculture or fields that benefit rural life.
• •The applicant’s participation and leadership in school, church, and community activities
• •The applicant’s reputation for good citizenship and good moral character
• •The applicant’s financial need, sources of income, and willingness to work
• •The applicant’s satisfactory academic progress
The winner is announced at either the awards assembly or graduation ceremony, and the winner receives a certificate that acknowledges their accomplishments. The scholarship may be used at any accredited college or university to pursue an agriculture related course of study.
The scholarship amount will be paid directly to the student, at the start of each year. The scholarship may be used for the payment of tuition, fees, books, supplies, and equipment required for their educational courses. Recipients must be enrolled in school as a full-time student and present verification to Producers Cooperative Association to receive payment each year.

It is not necessary to be a member of FFA, active in agriculture activities, or have done business with Mo-Kan Livestock in order to receive this scholarship; however, these students will be looked upon favorably. If none of the scholarship applicants meet this criteria, the scholarship selection committee will award scholarships to the best overall applicants. The rootEd Undergraduate Scholarship is a renewable scholarship awarded to graduates of eligible high schools in Missouri and Idaho. It is a need-based award of up to $12,000 per academic year and is renewable through graduation or a maximum of 10 semesters, provided the student continues to meet eligibility and selection criteria.
To be eligible to be considered for this scholarship you must:
• Be a graduating high school senior, from an eligible high school, planning to enter college as an incoming freshman in the 2023-2024 academic year.
• Plan to enroll in a bachelor’s degree-granting program at an accredited, nonprofit college or university
• Have earned a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average while in high school
• Demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or similar need calculations. Students with an Expected Family Contribution (SAI) over $15,000 must have significant and extenuating circumstances to be considered.
All fields of study, except the ministry and divinity degrees, are eligible for funding.
The rootEd Undergraduate Scholarship is on My Scholarship Central, administered by The Scholarship Foundation of St. Louis. To be considered, completed applications and all required supporting documents must be submitted by the deadline of April 17. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that ALL required documents have been submitted by the deadline. The Scholarship Foundation may not be able to notify the applicant of missing documents prior to the deadline.
