Artificial intelligence is already changing education, workplaces, and daily life. At BSM, we believe schools have a responsibility to help students understand AI safely, critically, and responsibly.
Our approach to AI is cautious, age-appropriate, and continuously reviewed.
As outlined in our Artificial Intelligence Use Policy, BSM adopts a human-centred approach in which AI is used to enhance learning and creativity while maintaining strong human oversight.
We focus on helping students:
Understand what AI is and how it works
Recognise that AI systems can make mistakes or produce inaccurate information
Critically evaluate AI-generated content
Use AI ethically and responsibly
Protect privacy and personal data online
Develop the human skills that remain essential in an AI-enabled world
We do not view AI as a replacement for teaching, thinking, creativity, or relationships.
BSM reviews AI tools carefully before use in line with:
Child safeguarding expectations
GDPR and data protection requirements
Age restrictions and platform terms of service
ISP governance and approval processes
Emerging international guidance around AI in education
AI systems are never used as the sole decision-maker for grading, behaviour, safeguarding, or student progression.
Where AI tools are used, staff maintain professional oversight and students are taught to question and evaluate outputs critically.
We also recognise that AI technologies are evolving rapidly. Access to specific AI tools may therefore change over time as guidance, regulations, and safeguarding expectations continue to develop.
