Syllabus
Course Description
In this class, you will be working on all the skills included in the 7th grade Social Studies curriculum as well as your skills in time management, decision making, and higher-order thinking. You will be required to write in a variety of forms and to participate in classroom discussions, partner work, and small groups. The goals of this class are to:
apply geography skills and knowledge to life situations at home, work, and the community.
demonstrate learning of the Five Fundamental Themes of Geography: Location, Place, Human-Environment Interactions, Movement, and Regions.
strengthen reading comprehension and writing skills.
build social-emotional skills using literature and writing.

Classroom Expectations
All School rules apply in this classroom – Franklin CARES
Bring all your supplies to class daily.
Come in quietly, sit in your seat, and start working. Directions will be on the board.
Follow directions the first time they are given.
Complete all your work and turn it in on time.
Complete homework when assigned to be prepared for class.
One person may use the restroom at a time. You must sign out using the Smart Pass app. No one may use the restroom during the first and last 10 minutes of class.
No food or gum. THIS IS A PEANUT-FREE CLASSROOM.
Homework Policy
Homework is to be recorded daily in your Homework Assignment Book. It is your responsibility to write down any homework assignments every day when you come to class.
Late Work
Work not completed and turned in by the assigned date is considered late. If a student is absent on the date work is due, the assignment is due the first day the student returns to school. COMPLETED LATE WORK will only receive partial credit. INCOMPLETE LATE WORK will not be graded and will result in a zero for the assignment.
Absent Work
If a test or quiz was given on a day a student was absent, the test must be made up on the first day the student returns. If previously assigned work was due on the day of absence, the work is due on the first day the student returns or it will be considered late and will only receive partial credit. A student has two extra days to turn in any work assigned on a day they are absent.
