The Self-Paced MS 1-on-1 Program is designed for students in Grades K–12, offering a personalized private learning experience with a certified teacher. All students enrolled in this program:
Are supported by a certified teacher that families ultimately choose—who is also a special education expert.
Receive two live, 50-minute weekly check-ins:
One focused on English Language Arts (ELA) & Social Studies
One focused on Math & Science
Students in Gen Ed HS or functioning in Grades 9 - 12 will have 2 separate teachers( 1 for ELA/SS & 1 for Math/Science)
Electives: Gen Ed students can choose up to 2 electives included in the price.
Access: All enrolled students may participate in clubs, community events, and field trips.
How It Works
Each 50-minute check-in includes a mix of:
Directional teaching
Live classwork when appropriate
Addressing challenges or issues with weekly assignments
Goal-setting for future assignments
Monitoring progress
During the rest of the week, students work independently on assignments through our Learning Apps, making this program ideal for:
Students who need personalized 1-on-1 support
Self-starters and go-getters who enjoy working at their own pace
The PS team can recommend Students on Tier 3 who are not functioning well in a traditional class setting to join MS 1:1 program.
Beginning (5–10 minutes)
Confirm student attendance. If absent, document and notify Parent Support in the 1:1 channel.
A parent may attend the first session for support, but the focus must remain on the student. Do not conduct sessions solely with parents unless it's a scheduled meeting—reach out to the Instructional Lead if needed.
Start with a brief SEL check-in (about 5 minutes) to build rapport and gauge the student’s mood. Follow up on last session’s assignments: ask what went well, what was hard, and clarify any confusion.
Middle (25–30 minutes)
Focus on this week’s instructional goals. Review or reteach as needed based on progress and grade level.
Use short, targeted mini-lessons (10–15 mins per subject).
Consider prior work, performance data, strengths, and areas needing support.
Use engaging tools to teach content:
Eduprotocols
Videos, Music, Read Alouds, Podcasts
Games, Nearpods
End (10–15 minutes)
Review and write out the weekly learning plan; post it in Toddle.
Assign independent work:
K–5: 1–2 hours/day
6–12: 2–4 hours/day
Adjust based on student needs and assignment complexity.
Considerations
Include use of learning apps (e.g., IXL), and assign performance tasks as appropriate (usually due in a week).
Ensure all materials and links are ready and accessible. Have a backup plan in case of tech issues.
Students should be completing Performance Tasks
If a student has not shown up after 5 minutes please send a reminder to the family, if after 10 minutes they have not arrived please reach out to parent support, they will follow up with the family
Seniors must complete community service hours, depending on the diploma they are getting this number can vary. They can track these hours in Toddle. Here is a video to help. Check in with the team to determine if this is needed for your student.
