Outside of our regular class time, it is extremely beneficial for students to read independently for at least 30 minutes per day. Listening to a parent read (or an audio text) is excellent too. Reading helps children increase vocabulary, improve brain connectivity across all subject areas, reduce stress, and learn about people and places from around the world. Students who read independently will have the opportunity (and option) to present creative book reports to their peers during our live class time.
During the Spring semester of 2023, students should present at least two book reports. Students can choose a creative way to present a book, such as a drawing, a diorama, a story map, or even a poem about the book. Or, students can choose a more traditional book report format. Students may choose to tell me (and/or the class) about the book verbally, or students can choose to fill out a traditional book report form. Forms can be scanned and emailed to me at amy.c@brilliantgrades.com Book reports can be presented on any Friday during our Language Arts block.
