Section 2: Safety Skills is dedicated to outlining the essential practices that drivers must master to ensure their safety and the safety of others on the road. The guide emphasizes that developing and consistently applying these skills is crucial not only for preventing collisions but also for having a long and successful career in the transportation industry. 

This section details key safety techniques, such as 1)Defensive Driving, which involves actively managing and protecting the space around your vehicle. It covers the importance of 2)Maintaining a Safe Following Distance, noting that commercial vehicles require significantly more space to stop than cars, recommending a 5-second distance in clear conditions and 7 seconds in wet conditions. Techniques for 3)10-Second Lane Changes are explained to improve safety and visibility, especially concerning blind spots. 4)Proper Mirror Adjustment is highlighted as vital for maximizing visibility and minimizing blind spots. 

The section also stresses the importance of safety when 5)Dismounting or Mounting Equipment by always maintaining three points of contact.
