Your Path To Success Begins Here!
Welcome to the Operational Events Section of the Learning Center!
Section 3: Operational Events in the Bright Trucking Reference Guide addresses the various situations and occurrences that Fleet Managers (FMs) and drivers may encounter during daily trucking operations. Building upon the understanding of the Bright Trucking Company Network and necessary FM skills, this section provides guidance on how to handle these specific events.
1)Routine Events cover common occurrences such as Detention, Maintenance issues, Lumper payments, situations where a Receiver is Closed, Product Refusal, Overages, Shortages, or Damages (OS&D), and DOT Inspections without points.
2)Non-Routine Events address less frequent, often critical incidents like Citations, Accidents (following the Accident Policy), and DOT Inspections where points are incurred or the vehicle is put Out of Service (OOS).
3)Expiring Events focus on tracking and managing documentation and maintenance that have set expiration dates or mileage intervals. This includes various Company Wide Licenses and Registrations, Company Wide Taxes, Preventative Maintenance Events, Truck and Trailer Compliance Documents, Driver Personal Compliance Documents, and items required in the Driver Permit Book.
By detailing these operational events and the required procedures for handling them, Section 3 equips Fleet Managers with the knowledge needed to proactively manage their drivers and loads, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and appropriate response to unexpected situations.
