Hi families! My name is Ms. Cearley and I am teaching 6th grade ELA. This will be my second year teaching middle school. I grew up in the community, specifically Port Royal. I graduated from the University of SC Beaufort with a B.A. in Secondary English Education. When I am not teaching, I love to swim, bake, and read (of course!). Have a fantastic 25-26 school year!

Sept. 22-26 2025
This week students are working on Unit 1: Testing Out Limits. They are reading their first poem, “Jabberwocky” and analyzing word choice. Students will create their own word by using two already defined words.
On the grammar side, students are working on coordinating adjectives using Quill. Students can go at their own pace and choose which lessons they would like to work on.
Weekly, students are expected to complete 5 units of Lexia a week and 3 lessons on Quill. This is something they are supposed to do during ELA and WIN time, but if they do not finish, they need to complete it on their own time. Lexia should take about 25 minutes and Quill should take about 30 minutes.
