Bridges Academy Physical Education program is more than running, calisthenics, games, or sport. It encompasses total movement experience that focuses on fun, involvement, character, self-esteem, health and fitness, and total well-being for our students. It is an essential part of every student's everyday lives.
Strategy-based Instruction: Teacher explains a cognitive strategy or procedure, models the strategy, provides guided practice and feedback as students internalize the strategy.
Coaching: Teacher makes criterion-referenced observations about performance and makes immediate, specific feedback.
Cooperative Learning: Teacher uses small group interaction to forward the concept of new skills, and help facilitate academic and social skills congruently.
Independent Study: Teacher encourages individuals or small groups of students to explore self-selected areas of study, and reflect their findings.
Demonstration/Modelling: Teacher's actions and behaviors serve as an example for students, who in turn try to replicate the actions and behaviors in a variety of situations.
Direct Instruction: Teacher systematically explains a new skill/activity/game, followed by guided practice under the teachers' guidance.
