English 9

This course is devoted to building and reinforcing lifelong speaking, writing, and reading skills and habits while introducing students to literary themes and devices. In English Nine, students improve their critical thinking and listening skills as they take part in Harkness-style discussions of essential classics and modern works that center on themes of personal agency and the lasting impact of human connection. As they are guided through a concentrated year long individualized course in grammar, students hone their writing, in both formal and creative contexts.
