Computing
All children will be equipped with the skills to use ICT safely and responsibly as an integral part of life and learning in an ever-changing technological world.
There has been an explosion in the use and impact of ICT in everyone's lives and at Great Wakering Primary Academy our aim is to equip pupils with the computational thinking, creativity and digital literacy so they are confident and active members of the digital world. The progressive Teach Computing curriculum resource is used to teach computing across the school. We enhance our teaching of e-safety with the ‘Knowlsey’ teaching scheme of work as it is vital that children are prepared to deal with online content independently and safely.
All teachers have a Clevertouch TV screen in their classrooms
All children have access to class sets of Chromebooks across the school
We have mini ipads for use across the school.
ICT skills are taught explicitly in a computing session, applied through cross curricular lessons using ICT and are an integral part of teaching in the classroom.
Teachers plan Computing lessons according to the progressive ICT overview which covers the following skills:
Computer science
Digital Literacy
Information Technology
E-Safety
E-Safety must be taught explicitly at the beginning of every term and be an integral part of everyday teaching and learning.
