Introduction to leagues

There are two leagues in Major League Baseball. Each league has 15 teams. One team from each league has to face each other in the World Series. It is not possible for two American League teams to face each other in the World Series. Same with the National League. The league most commonly face each other, however they do sometimes face teams from the other league.

League Rules

Each league has special rules that apply only to that league. The basics of the game stay the same, but there is 2 requirements or rules. In the National League, there is no Designated hitter, but the pitcher bats. In the American League, the pitcher does not bat, but there is a Designated Hitter.

Divisions

Each league is broken up into 3 divisions, each with 5 teams. The Al/Nl East, Al/NL West, and the Al/Nl Central. Here is a list of the teams in each division

Al East

Al West:

  • Minnesota Twins

Nl East:

  • Atlanta Braves

  • Philadelphia Phillies
  • Washington Nationals

Nl West:

  • Arizona Diamondbacks
  • Colorado Rockies
  • Las Angeles Dodgers
  • San Diego Padres

Nl Central:
