Despite some hot weather, this past week has been phenomenal! My favorite moment was spending recreation on Tuesday afternoon at Albee beach playing volleyball in the water!
There are so many reasons that I wanted to be a Teaching Fellow in the Thai Scholar Program! The biggest reason is that I was excited to be able to support Thai Scholars as they learn and grow in their academic journeys in the U.S., but also I knew I would learn a great deal from them about Thailand, Thai culture, and their own experiences!
I love the Grand Canyon Discussion group! Each of the scholars brings great energy and humor to each session. Every second of our lunches is filled with great conversation and plenty of laughter! I admire how each member makes the most of every opportunity to connect with others, practice English, and grow!
At first, P’James, one of the Teaching Assistants, heard about an opportunity to meet TS67 from Chris Brown, he joined the summer program without hesitation. His goal is to make a connection with the new generation of Thai scholars and apply his own experiences as a senior to help organize the program so that TS67 will have the best time in the US.
Through the second week, he has seen an improvement from every TS67: doing well in a group discussion, sharing creative ideas, and asking good questions. He refers to TS67 as “energetic and smart”. He also said, “They had quality over quantity.”
