Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum

Second Step

The elementary years are the ideal time to nurture social-emotional competence and develop foundational learning skills. Our Second Step® Elementary curriculum offers an evidence-based approach to social-emotional learning (SEL), with age-appropriate lessons that are easy to teach and fun to learn. Lessons cover Empathy & Skills for Learning, Bullying Prevention, Problem Solving, Emotion Management, and Child Protection.

Join www.secondstep.org with the activation key listed on your student’s grade level letter to watch videos about the Second Step program and get information about what your student is learning.

Our team visits each classroom to teach additional lessons. In October we have the Bullying Prevention Unit and in April we teach the Child Protection Unit.  These units have a family access code specific to each grade level in the Second Step program.

Character Strong

CharacterStrong is used in Pre-K through 12th grade classrooms in Bremerton schools. At West Hills STEM Academy, we use the PurposeFull People lessons that focus on the top 10 traits for social & emotional learning and character skills at the elementary level.
