At Breckinridge County Schools, we are committed to maintaining a safe, healthy environment for all of our students and staff. We understand that a secure, supportive atmosphere is key to fostering student success and well-being. That's why we prioritize health and safety in everything we do.
Key Health & Safety Initiatives:
On-Site Medical Personnel
Each school in our district has a designated medical professional available to assist with any health-related concerns, ensuring students receive immediate care when needed.
Trained Staff in CPR & First Aid
Many of our staff members are trained in CPR, first aid, and emergency medication. This means that if a medical emergency arises, our staff is equipped to respond swiftly and effectively.
Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
To enhance our emergency preparedness, all of our facilities are equipped with AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators). These lifesaving devices are clearly marked with signage and are available in all schools. AEDs are checked monthly to ensure they are always in working order.
Annual Training for Staff
In addition to our AED equipment, staff receive annual training to refresh their skills and stay up to date with the latest emergency response protocols, ensuring they are always ready to act.
Emergency Preparedness & Drills
We conduct regular safety drills and provide training so that our schools are always prepared for potential emergencies. Our goal is to ensure that both staff and students know how to act calmly and efficiently in any situation.
Stocked Epinephrine and Narcan
To further ensure the safety of all students, every facility in the district carries stock epinephrine (EpiPens) for students with severe allergies and Narcan to address potential opioid emergencies. These medications are readily available and administered by trained staff when needed.
Your Child’s Safety is Our Priority
At Breckinridge County Schools, we are dedicated to creating an environment where every child can thrive, knowing that their health and safety are our top priorities. From trained medical staff to our commitment to keeping all facilities up-to-date with the latest safety equipment and medications, we are continually working to ensure the well-being of our entire school community.
Together, we can provide a safe and healthy learning environment for every student in our district.
