In class we will go over how to take notes using the Cornell Note Taking System- this system will provide you with an efficient note-taking method to use throughout the semester.
Your are NOT required to use this method... I simply provide it for those who would like to use it.
We will also review the seven continents and five oceans.
Geography and understand maps and locations is an essential skill for, not only my class, but for life.
RGQ's!! While these seem to be dreaded by most students they are an incredibly helpful tool to guide your reading, focus on certain aspects of the chapter, and facilitate connections and thinking outside the box. You will receive RGQ's for most of the chapters we cover. RGQ's are located in each unit.
RGQ Guidelines
All questions must be answered completely- some "numbers" will include multiple questions, each questions MUST be answered in order to receive full credit for the numbered item.
Example: 4. What were 4 technological advances made in the Arab world? How did these advances impact other civilizations (be specific).
In this example the questions is labeled as number 4 but there are TWO questions to answer. You are MUST answer both questions completely.
All questions MUST be answered in COMPLETE sentences.
While we may occasionally work on these in class, the majority of your RGQ's will be done at home using a textbook or the online chapters.
While you are not required to write the questions (I provide you with a printed version of the questions- no need to rewrite them) you are required to write/type your answers in order. Assignments submitted out of order will NOT be graded and will be returned until corrected.
Due dates are firm unless there are extenuating circumstances. Late assignments will result in -10 points per (school day).
