Focusing your topic also focuses your research. You are now looking for specific, limited information. Rather than general resources, you go deep and start using more subject-specific resources, such as books on your topic or subject-specific databases and journal.

THINGS TO DO:

• Find a minimum of 2-3 KEY sources and read them thoroughly

  • Make connections between sources--what "story" are you telling?

  • Look for different perspectives and counter-arguments. Where do this fit in your analysis?

  • check for bias (yours and your sources!)

  • Look for holes--where do you need more information?
