Our four units of study are based on the Next Generation Science Standards and Phenomenal Science Curriculum
Earth Systems and Human Impact
This unit uses the important earh science concepts Those include these concepts:
Earth is comprised of several major interacting systems (the solid earth, the hydrosphere and atmosphere, and the biosphere)
Processes and events involve multiple spheres
Events initiated in one sphere can impact processes in another sphere
Energy flows within and across the major spheres.
Energy and Matter in Ecosystems
This unit, Matter and Energy in Organisms and Ecosystems, focuses on the cycling of matter and the flow of energy.
Matter and it's Interactions
Thia unit is about the matter, properties of matter, and the conservation of matter. This unit includes two instructional cycles. In the first cycle, students classify properties of materials and understand the connection to why this is important for chemists.
To Infinity and Beyond- Space Systems
This unit is about three key ideas fundamental to the science of astronomy: bodies in space, such as Earth, has a gravitational force field that pulls objects toward their center, the sun is one of 100's of billions of stars and the Earth's rotation about its spinning axis and revolution around the sun cause the patterns of motions we observe as well as our day-night and seasonal cycles.
