We read and worked on an article of the week and then students began their Unit 5 Test.
Kids worked through lesson 31 on how ancient Greece has impacted our modern world and then had an assessment over that lesson.
We watched a documentary on Alexander the Great and then students completed a preview for Lesson 31 where they discovered words commonly used in English that have Greek roots.
We worked on our article of the week, finished up working on Lesson 30 and then discussed it. After that, the students completed their lesson 30 assessment.
Students worked on Lesson 30 today about Alexander the Great.
Due to M-STEP testing, I did not see these classes during these days.
Today we worked on reading and analyzing a primary source. Once students finished that, they had the opportunity to earn some extra credit by completing a couple different puzzles about Ancient Greece.
Students finished lesson 29 and we discussed the answers to the reader's notebook. Then students had the rest of the hour to complete their Lesson 29 Assessment.
Students completed the Article of the Week for this week. After that, we talked about what made Athens such a remarkable city (at least in the eyes of Athenian leadership) by completing the preview to Lesson 29. Students then had 30 minutes to get started reading and working on Lesson 29 either on their own or with their partner.
We went of the Lesson 27 Assessment. Then students had most of the hour to finish Lesson 28. Once they finished that we went over the answers and they worked on the assessment for Lesson 28.
Students worked on the article of the week. Then, they completed an assessment for Lesson 27. With the time they had left, they began working on Lesson 28.
We completed the preview for Lesson 27 by looking at the pictures in the text book that follow the introduction to the lesson. Then we watched the "This is Sparta" video to get some background on Sparta. Lastly, students worked on the Reader's Notebook for Lesson 27 in partner groups.
We finished Lesson 26 and completed the assessment for it.
We watched the Athens documentary and filled out the doc that goes along with it. All this is located in Google Classroom.

Unit 4 Geography Challenge
Students were asked to interview a classmate and create a 10 slide Google Slides presentation to introduce their partner to us. Some students presented today. Those who did not will present on Friday/Monday.
Today was the first day of semester two. We took care of looking over the syllabus, completing two "Get to Know You" activities and were introduced to "Article of the Week," which is something we will be spending 20-30 minutes on each week.
