We wrapped up our work on the documentaries and watched them as a class. Students finished class by completing a reading survey to kick off our new unit.

Students finished up and turned in their final drafts of their cause and effect essays. After that, they began working on their documentary project.

Students worked on editing their rough drafts today and making adjustments to their draft before turning in a final copy.
I only saw the students for about 40 minutes today due to MSTEP testing. During that time, we completed our article of the week and then the kids just made sure they had all parts of their rough draft ready to go for our editing process we will complete on Thursday.
Students finished checking in their body paragraphs. Then we took notes on how to write a conclusion and wrote those. Students also should have checked that in with me as well.

Students started the week by completing this week's Article of the Week. Then we worked on taking some body paragraph notes and started to write our first body paragraph.
We reviewed our introduction notes and then practiced writing good hooks. Then we did a practice introduction paragraph together. After that the students began writing their introduction.
Students completed the article of the week and then worked on a 20 Random Words assignment.
We will finish up working on the Source Planning Sheet by going over section 5 and working on that. Then we will discuss the rubric and make sure that we all understand it and we will finish by taking notes on how to write an introduction and we will focus our attention on writing a great hook.
Practice Passage 1
We went over how to tell if a source is trustworthy or not and then students started the research process for their paper by beginning to fill out the source planning sheet located in Google Classroom.

Students were asked to interview a classmate and create a 10 slide Google Slides presentation to introduce their partner to us. Some students presented today. Those who did not will present on Friday.
Today was the first day of semester two. We took care of looking over the syllabus, completing two "Get to Know You" activities and were introduced to "Article of the Week," which is something we will be spending 20-30 minutes on each week.
