People (alphabetical)

Ethan Knapp

I am a senior at Brandeis majoring in biology and neuroscience. I have a passion for all aspects of science, and am interested in pursuing a career in medicine. I also love working and spending time with children, which has been a driving force for many of my extracurricular activities, including being a coordinator for Waltham Group's SPECTRUM program. I am always open to collaboration and learning opportunities, so don't hesitate to reach out to me at ethanknapp@brandeis.edu.

Erika Nesse

Hi I'm Erika, I'm a software engineer with years of experience and I am deeply interested in human/computer collaboration. I have worked with computers to create automatically generated music, and I have worked with GPT-3 to create an independent magazine. I am also deeply interested in the inner workings of AI, and want to understand the fundamentals of what makes systems like GPT tick.

Janet Orozco

Experienced researcher and Brandeis University senior in the process of obtaining a B.S. in neuroscience. Dedicated to giving back to the community through volunteer initiatives and aspiring to make an impact in the field of neuroscience. Member of the Lisman and Rosbash Labs. I am always open to collaboration with anything STEM/Research related and special interest in human/machine augmentation research.

Gayatri Aroskar

I am a second-year master's student in Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. My primary research interests involve regenerative medicine specifically cancer biology, and I am also interested in any applications of STEM-research that is relevant to the medical field.

Manning Zhang

Hi! I am a doctoral student majoring sociology at Brandeis. Interested in studying culture, health, policy, as well as anything that can be called "new knowledge", I enjoy the time spent with other TRIG members and appreciate the opportunity to be exposed to interdisciplinary stuff. Happy to chat about research or potential collaboration by email: manningz33@brandeis.edu.

Punya Gupta

I’m Punya Gupta from Lexington, MA, and I go to Lexington High School. I am graduating from high school in 2021. My prospective major is biotechnological engineering. My interests are science, music (alto sax), cooking, swimming, speaking languages, and traveling.

Fun fact about me: I have never eaten a dorito!

Tanmay Gupta

Hi, I am Tanmay Gupta! I live in Lexington and attend Lexington High School as part of the class of 2023. My academic interests include physics, computer science, and math. Also, I also play the saxophone and the piano. I really enjoy being part of the Brandeis Augmenting the Human Initiative!

Vivekanand Vimal

I am a research scientist in the Ashton Graybiel Spatial Orientation Lab and I research human spatial disorientation. Recently I have become interested in exploring how technological countermeasures (such as human augmentation) can reduce spatial disorientation. In this group, I help people add the research perspective to their projects. I am always open to collaboration and I have a wide variety of interests, which you can learn about on my website.

Yonglin Wang

Yonglin graduated from the Master’s in Computational Linguistics program at Brandeis, where she started working with Vivek on exploring spatial disorientation with deep learning. Having majored in linguistics and neuroscience in college, she finds the intersection of artificial intelligence and these subjects immensely fascinating.

Jacob Smith, Brandeis University '21

I am a Brandeis Senior from Baltimore, Maryland! I am majoring in Computer science and minoring in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies.

My interests include electronics, teaching, and playing music with my friends. Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about electronics or the Augmenting the Human Group!

Chris Tam, Brandeis University '22

I'm Chris Tam, a junior stationed in Newton, MA and majoring in computer science at Brandeis University. I currently lead the VR and Game Development club on campus, and often enjoy working with the Unity software to create interactive 3D environments. I'm here looking to combine my expertise in VR with my growing interest in robotics to allow people to work with machines just as well as their own limbs, and make this tech more accessible to everyone.

Philip Bonmassar

I am a senior at Brandeis University studying economics. I am interested in how data science, hardware, and artificial intelligence can intersect to improve technology. In particular, I would like to pursue research on how wearables can improve health outcomes using data scientific techniques. My interests also include playing tennis and reading.

Daniel Hariyanto, Brandeis University '23

Hi! I'm a sophomore, hailing from Jakarta, Indonesia. I'm majoring in Biological Physics and Computer Science. Outside of academics, I'm involved in research, working in the Rogers Lab on nanostructures called DNA nanostars, and serve on the board of several tech clubs on campus including Robotics Club, BITMAP (CS Club), Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, TAMID Group at Brandeis, and Biochemistry Club.
