Research

The Krauss lab works at the interface of synthetic organic chemistry, molecular biology, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids. In the area of Chemical Glycobiology, we have combined carbohydrate synthesis with directed evolution techniques to develop novel vaccine design methods that we are currently applying to HIV. In the area of Synthetic Methods, we have developed a class of homoallylation reagents that access stereochemical motifs that are otherwise difficult to synthesize.
