Duane Juang is a biomedical engineer with a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a second Ph.D. in Chemistry and B.S. in Life Science from the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. Before joining Brandeis in 2025, he did his postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and also worked at various biotech companies developing nucleic acid and protein diagnostic technologies.
PhD Student, Molecular and Cell Biology Program
Dan completed their B.S in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a double major in Psychology. After undergrad, Dan worked in industry as a research associate at Kisbee Therapeutics and Sanofi, developing high-throughput biologic screens and scalable manufacturing models for drug products. Currently, Dan focuses on identifying lead magnetoresponsive protein candidates to develop novel biosensing assays.
PhD Student, Biochemistry and Biophysics Program
Jake completed their B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona with a double major in Biochemistry. Previously, Jake worked in a bioinorganic chemistry lab designing controlled-release anticancer drugs. Currently, their research focuses on 1) understanding the mechanisms of magnetofluorescent proteins and 2) developing magnetic-based diagnostic tools.
Undergraduate Researcher, Department of Biology
Ana is a biology major from Brookline, MA. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends around Boston, taking photos, and playing ultimate frisbee.
Undergraduate Researcher, Department of Biochemistry
My project focuses on manipulating microbial interactions to grow previously unculturable strains of bacteria.
Undergraduate Researcher, Department of Biochemistry
Some of my hobbies are reading dragonboat and pottery. In the lab I’m working on finding anti-fungal candidates in cranberry bog isolates.
