Welcome to our new adventure! Today, we introduced our students to our exciting community garden project. They were especially thrilled about the addition of chickens, and several teachers even volunteered to adopt chicks and care for them until they're ready to move into the coop! After unveiling the project and showing students the future garden site, each class created their own garden designs. We encouraged them to include areas for vegetable and fruit beds, flower beds, composting, and, of course, a special space for the chickens.
We also welcomed Bradley Griffith who volunteered his time to come and lead our 5th grade boys as they put up our new greenhouse!

This week we have been learning all about the importance of soil in gardening. We now know the layers of soil and what the purpose is of each layer.
We studied different kinds of soil samples and started preparing for our compost project
Our younger students made chocolate soil pudding cups, which they loved.
