Dr. Mohsin is an advanced HE fellow (UK) and BAETE trained Program Evaluator. Currently he is working for Brac university, EEE Department as Associate Professor. He is the founder and principal investigator of BracU Optics and Photonics Research group and AI/IoT, Applied Machine learning research group. He has successfully delivered 10+ research projects and was awarded a research funding of around 5 million USD. As a lead of the industry-university consortium at BracU, he contributed to the development of a proposal for around 10 million USD funding (ADB-MoF). He also supervised around 150+ Undergrad and 7 postgraduate students.
Dr Mohsin obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nanotechnology/Nano-Bio-photonics from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. He received his BSc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) from Islamic University of Technology (IUT), Gazipur, Dhaka. From 2009 to 2011 he served as a Lecturer at the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Stamford University Bangladesh. From 2011 to 2018, he worked for several departments of the Swinburne University of Technology, Australia in different capacities.
Dr. Mohsin worked as a multidisciplinary research scientist at the interface of engineering, physics, and biology. He is the founding advisor of Nanotechnology, AI/IoT and Applied Machine Learning Research Group.
His research interest includes nano-bio-photonics, plasmonics/ metamaterial/metasurface/2D and its application, Thin film solar cells, biosensors, single particle micro spectroscopy, nanoparticle cell interaction and live cell imaging, Robotics, IoT and AI, Applied machine and deep learning etc.
Dr. Mohsin’s Ph.D. dissertation was focused on developing advanced optical imaging techniques to study the optical property of nanomaterial and the biological processes at the nano level on the living cell. He developed a novel technique that can proclaim microscopic view of molecular interaction and dynamics (e.g. 2-10 nm resolution) and a macroscopic view of living organisms (e.g. within 100 nm) amalgamating nanoparticle plasmon coupling and image correlation spectroscopy technique. These combined techniques allow us not only to gain a profound understanding of biological mysteries like co-localization and macromolecular interaction in living cells but also offers solution to understand unresolved discoveries in the field of cell biology and immunology, providing better understanding of spatiotemporal compartmentalization of biomolecules inside living cells breaking the 200 nm diffraction limit of light. In addition, he has worked on several projects and contributed in the field of plasmonics, thin film solar cells, biosensors, optical data storage, industry 4.0 project, Xilinx FPGA/CPLD and microcontroller based projects.
Dr Mohsin has published around 50+ peer reviewed journals and conferences with google scholar citations of around 650. His research findings have been published in the leading optics, biophotonics and IEEE journals and peer-reviewed conferences. These have been the ACS Material and Interface (impact factor 8.2), Analyst (IF 4.2), Energy Reports, Plasmonics, IEEE Access, IEEE Sensor Journal (IF 4.3), Solar Energy (IF 6), Optics Communication, Measurement Journal, International Journal of Nanomedicine (Impact factor 4.5), Optics Express (impact factor 3.3), IEEE photonics Journals (impact factor 3.23), and IEEE Explorer. Dr. Mohsin actively contributed to the scientific talk and peer-reviewed conferences organized by OSA, IONS-KOALA, SPIE, AIP, and IEEE. Dr. Mohsin regularly reviews articles for numerous leading journals including IEEE, Elsevier, and the International Journal of Nanomedicine. Dr. Mohsin is the founding advisor of BracU Optics and Photonics -OPTICA student chapter. He is also an active member of IEEE, SPIE, and OSA.
